We plan on starting the first hour each session at 5:00 pm with a quick demo of a project that you can sew along with guidance from a mentor. A supply list or kits (at a minimal cost) will be offered depending on the project.

This week we'll cover sewing machine basics--you just got a sewing machine…where to start? We can walk you through parts of the sewing machine, threading, features, basic functions, accessories and what are all those stitches? Bring in your own sewing machine or use one of ours.

  • Identifying parts of the sewing machine
  • Winding a bobbin
  • Threading the machine
  • Changing the needle
  • Sewing straight and zigzag stitches
  • Changing stitch length and/or width
  • Sewing straight and curved seams with a consistent seam allowance
  • Troubleshooting tips
  • Basic sewing tips and tricks

The sewing lab is available for you to work on your own projects as well, and the mentors look forward to assisting you.

Suggestions are always welcome!

Free, $7.50 Drop-In Fee or Membership Card. Select what works best for you.
